Yesterday was our 21st wedding anniversary… which we very nearly forgot. Again. And honestly, that probably says more about us than anything else, not that we don’t care, but that life together has always been full and busy and happy enough that dates just… slip.
But in the most perfectly “us” moment ever, the universe gave us a little reminder anyway.
We were in the bathroom, literally, putting the final touches on our renovation. Fixing towel rails, tightening fittings, stepping back to admire our handiwork. And one of us casually said, “Hey, it's our wedding anniversary...what’s the 21st anniversary gift again?”
A quick Google later… nickel.
Nickel.
A symbol of durability and emotional wellbeing.
And what were we surrounded by?
Brushed nickel. Everywhere. Every fitting, every handle, every little detail we’d chosen without a second thought.
You cannot make this stuff up.
It felt like the sweetest little cosmic wink, like the universe saying, “You two are doing just fine.”
Moments later we were drinking champagne in our new bathroom.
Twenty‑six years of us.
Twenty‑one years married.
And somehow it still feels easy. Still feels like choosing each other without effort or question.
Thank you for being you 🤍
